Nick Thorne

Nick ThorneNick Thorne did his schooling in York, where he studied Politics, Philosophy, French and German for A-level. He is now studying International Relations and French and German at the University of Sussex.

Having traveled in more than 20 countries, his primary interests include Third World development, US hegemony, terrorism and the threat it poses to capitalism, and the question of where power lies in contemporary international relations. Nick Thorne took a gap year in which he traveled around China and spent 9 months teaching in West Africa. This stimulated his interest in travel, language and the developing world. Next year he will spend 9 months as an English assistant in French Guyana. Nick Thorne has had two articles published. “Letter from Burkina Faso”, in The Guardian in 2007, and “Does aid to the Third World do more harm than good?” in The Badger, the University of Sussex newspaper.
